So, no new progress on the animation today (11 hours on my feet plus an hour and a half at the gym and I'm rather beat), but I have now been committed to participating in a flash mob at the Downtown Farmer's Market on the 18th. Whoo!
To make up for a lack of progress today, here's a sketch from sometime in the last couple of weeks.
I give you Trish.

Welcome to my insanity
So, I suppose it's about time for me to catch up with society and create a blog.
I expect I'll be using it as a place to throw my current works in progress and/or finished pieces.
Now then... To start it off: I've begun working on an entry for the current 11 Second Club competition. The segment is from the movie The King's Speech.
It's a bit of a shaky description, and enough like the original to make me slightly iffy about it, but the image is so vivid when I listen to the clip. We'll see where it goes. I really just want to get animating again.

Quick sketches of character ideas
I'm not happy with the cat, but I do like the face for the boy. I imagine the cat to be fatter and have more of an attitude. But it's a start.
We'll see where it goes from here.

Voice One: "Listen to me!"
Voice Two: "Listen to you? By what right?"
Voice One: "By divine right, if you must. I am your king."
Voice Two: "No you're not, you told me so yourself. You said you didn't want it. Why should I waste my time listening to you?"
Voice One: "Because I have a right to be heard..."
Voice Two: "Oh, that's not..."
Voice One: "...I have a voice!"

What I'm thinking, is a scene set in an attic. A little boy with a paper crown on his head and a towel or blanket wrapped around his neck wields a cat toy like a scepter as he lounges on an old plush chair.
An indignant cat is fed up with the boy not listening to him. (Think Calvin and Hobbes. The cat can talk, but only to the boy.)
